Dana White is undoubtedly the main reason for the colossal success of UFC. He has given more than 20 years of his life rebuilding UFC from bankruptcy. Now, at the age of 55, White wants to try his luck in boxing. Surprisingly, according to the legendary Mike Tyson, it’s the best thing possible.

Dana White, a major boxing fan, grew critical of the sport and frequently looked down on it. However, years after their love-hate relationship, the UFC CEO has finally stated his intention to enter boxing as a promoter. Mike Tyson just had the opportunity to discuss the latest development and provide insight. Tyson expressed his opinion on how White may be a game-changer in boxing.

That’s gotta be the best thing that happened to UFC. Like if you are in UFC and anybody’s booing the fight, you are not gonna see that guy. Only good fights. You don’t have good fights, you may never gonna see that guy again, not like boxing.

Boxing, currently is nowhere as near as popular as it was in the 80s and 90s. Several reasons including lackluster fight cards and the emergence of new combat sports, have resulted in this downfall. According to many experts, including Teddy Atlas, boxing needs someone like White to bring in some major changes.

White has repeatedly put out incredible fight cards throughout his UFC career and 2024 was a major example of it. Many believe that Dana White’s latest change of mind is the result of his newly-found friendship with Turki Alalshikh. Nevertheless, Tyson is excited for White but the same isn’t true regarding White’s opinions about Tyson’s upcoming boxing bout.

Dana White doesn’t like Mike Tyson fighting Jake Paul

Mike Tyson is gearing up for his boxing return at the age of 58 years against YouTuber turned-boxer Jake Paul. The fight was previously canceled after Tyson got hospitalized. However, now it has been rescheduled to take place on 15th November. Irrespective of the hype, given the age gap, the fight attracted criticism.

Dana White also didn’t like the idea of Tyson fighting 27-year-old Jake Paul. Tyson on the other hand is confident about his health and isn’t taking the fight lightly. White is a huge Tyson fan and often invited him to UFC events but doesn’t think the veteran should take the fight.

Under any circumstances a f****** almost 60-year-old man shouldn’t be fighting a 27 year old f****** guy…I love Mike and nobody wants to see Mike getting beat by this jerk off.

Aside from that, White has an ongoing feud with Jake Paul that has lasted years. Paul recently stated that he would restore his relationship with White if he raised the UFC’s minimum fighter salary. It would be interesting to see if both of these people ever meet paths, especially with White joining the boxing.
