Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky star, has become a cultural phenomenon off the court during the WNBA offseason, with her presence seemingly influencing outcomes at various sporting events. Reese’s “home-team luck” continued on December 23 when she attended the Boston Celtics vs. Orlando Magic game in Orlando.

The Magic, who were down early in the game and missing key players, staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the defending NBA champions, extending Angel Reese’s home-team win streak to an impressive 12-0. This streak, which spans multiple NFL and NBA games, not gone unnoticed on social media, with Reese herself addressing it on her X account.

What’s my record now???

She didn’t just stop there. A fan questioned Angel Reese‘s undefeated attendance record prior to the game, suggesting that the undermanned Magic squad would be overpowered by the reigning NBA Champs. Reese snarkily quipped back at the fan following the Magic’s late game victory.

While it’s all in good fun, the fact remains that her attendance coincides with some notable upsets. The Magic’s win over the Celtics, despite missing star players Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, was no exception.

Magic stun Boston Celtics in pre-Christmas thriller

The Orlando Magic’s victory wasn’t just a testament to the so-called “Angel Reese effect” but a true showing of their mettle. The Celtics entered the game as heavy favorites, even without MVP candidate Jayson Tatum, who was sidelined with an illness. Jaylen Brown led the charge for Boston with 35 points, but his efforts fell short against Orlando’s spirited comeback.

The Magic dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Celtics and erasing their halftime deficit. A late-game surge by Boston, including a crucial layup by Brown to cut the Magic’s lead to one, kept the contest close. However, Al Horford missed a critical three-pointer that would have given Boston the lead, and da Silva’s clutch three-pointer on the ensuing possession sealed the win for Orlando.

Orlando’s victory was particularly impressive given their depleted roster. Without Banchero and the Wagner brothers, the Magic relied on emerging players like Trevelin Queen and Jalen Suggs to step up. Their energy and grit in the second half flipped the game’s narrative.

As for Angel Reese, her undefeated streak continues to grow. While her presence might not directly impact the outcome of games, somehow every home team she has been in attendance for in recent history has been able to pull off victory’s, although her allegiance while attending the WNBA Finals may be questionable.
