Aljamain Sterling lost his bantamweight title to Sean OโMalley. After being denied an immediate rematch, Sterling moved up to featherweight and recently won his debut fight in the division. But will he drop down to bantamweight to fight OโMalley again? Sterling recently stated that he is sure he will beat OโMalley if given time to prepare the โproper wayโ.
Aljamain Sterling recently sat down for a conversation with Kanpai Media. During their discussion, Sterling talked about a rematch with โSugaโ.
I do know if I had a rematch, and as long as he waited from August to fighting โChitoโ in March, give me that time to recover and prepare and to cut my weight the proper way. In a rematch, I would bet my life savings on that.

Aljo said it was an off-night for him at UFC 292. He said OโMalley showed up that night and the better man took the win. Their fight lasted two rounds. OโMalley knocked down Sterling in under a minute into the second round and became the new bantamweight champion.
Sterling pushed for an immediate rematch. However, the UFC officials denied him this matchup and put OโMalley vs. Chito Vera instead. This is when Sterling moved up a weight class and fought Calvin Kattar at UFC 300. His featherweight debut was a success and Sterling won the fight via unanimous decision.
Aljamain Sterling threatens Sean OโMalleyโs head coach Tim Welch
Aljamain Sterling may have rivalries with fellow UFC fighters, but he also has a problem with Sean OโMalleyโs head coach. Their heated back and forth on social media in the past few days have brought this to attention. But why do Aljamain Sterling and Tim Welch have beef with each other?
Sterling recently addressed the issue on his YouTube channel. Although he said he was not threatening the 34-year-old coach, he also made an interesting statement.
He’s the one that’s not fighting. His fighter is doing the fighting. Well, guess what? Your fighters are doing the fighting, but now you’re talking and you’re right there. You are now eligible for these hands. For these hands, you are now eligible, sir.

It all started when Welch was allegedly talking trash outside the octagon at UFC 292. Sterling claimed that Welchโs comments did not influence his fight. Meanwhile, Welch also talked about it with OโMalley and claimed he was not talking trash to Sterling. It will be interesting to see if this feud dies out or erupts into something more intense in the near future.
