Alex Pereira is currently one of the biggest superstars on the UFC roster and has the numbers to back it. The light heavyweight champion successfully defended his title thrice, knocking out all the opponents. As 2024 comes to an end, ‘Poatan’ has given an update about his new year plans, potentially collaborating with Sean Strickland

Alex Pereira is known for his relentless work ethic, rarely taking time off from either fighting or training. In his latest post, he shared a clip of himself hitting the bag, captioning it with news of his upcoming trip to Australia. With Strickland set to face Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 312 in Australia, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what’s to come.

Lately, Pereira and Strickland have become training partners and often spar with each other during camps. They have developed a close relationship, and it won’t be surprising to see the Brazilian corner the former middleweight champion. On top of that, Pereira does have his own angst against DDP given their previous online exchange.

This year, Du Plessis has defeated both Strickland and Israel Adesanya, both of whom have a good relationship with Pereira. As a result, ‘Poatan’ even considered moving down again and fighting the newly crowned champion. However, it won’t be necessary if the ‘Tarzan’ gets the job done at UFC 312.

Sean Strickland points out Alex Pereira’s incredible power

Alex Pereira is renowned for his godly power and devastating knockout ability. His striking precision, combined with immense power in his punches and kicks, makes him a dangerous threat in the octagon. Pereira’s knockout highlights, particularly his brutal finishes of Israel Adesanya, Jamahal Hill, etc., have a separate fanbase.

His ability to end fights with a single strike has earned him a reputation as one of the most lethal finishers in the sport. Sean Strickland understands this and, in a video, talked about it in detail. He compared Pereira’s power to everyone else on the UFC roster.

I’m not scared of Alex. But the problem is, my chin..I will just go to sleep. It’s a weird thing when you fight Alex. For me to knock Alex out he has to do something really stupid. If you give me one free shot …I’m not knocking him out. You do that to Alex, everybody on the roaster is going to sleep.

Strickland got to experience that firsthand during his fight against Pereira at UFC 276. The American got dropped by ‘Poatan’ in the very first round and since then has respected Pereira as a fighter. It would be interesting to see how training with Pereira could impact Strickland’s performance at UFC 312.
