At UFC 307, Alex Pereira successfully defended his UFC light heavyweight title for the third time in a row. The Brazilian superstar defeated his challenger Khalil Rountree via a fourth-round TKO, leaving fans in awe. UFC CEO Dana White shared some insider news about Pereira’s win, which looked like a classic Conor McGregor‘s ‘Mystic Mac’ moment from Pereira

Khalil Rountree put on a competitive fight in the beginning, possibly winning the first two rounds. However, Pereira didn’t take much time to bounce back and exploit all the holes in Rountree’s game plan. Dana White talked about Pereira’s prediction ahead of the fight and how everything he said turned out to be true. It was exactly like the Irish fighter from the past.

He said listen,’ This guy hits hard. He’s tough. He’s this, he’s that but my fight IQ will win this fight.’ He said that in the combo feature and that’s exactly the way it played out.

It is being compared to ‘Mystic Mac’ because of Pereira’s accuracy and similarity to Conor McGregor. The ‘Notorious’ became famous for correctly predicting his fights. One of the most famous examples of this was his knockout victory over Jose Aldo. Similarly, McGregor’s double-championship triumph versus Eddie Alvarez was another example of accurate prediction.

Pereira also did something similar during his fight with Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303. At the time, ‘Poatan’ predicted that he would defeat the ‘Samurai’ via a high leg kick. With his latest victory, fans are excited to see more from Alex ‘Mystic Mac’ Pereira. It would be interesting to see what the fighter decides to do going forward.

What’s next for Alex Pereira?

Alex Pereira is currently one of the biggest superstars in the world of MMA, with a massive fan base. The Brazilian fighter has a variety of options for his upcoming fights. According to Conor McGregor, Pereira should move up to heavyweight and aim for a three-division champion tag.

Pereira has fought thrice this year and last night broke Ronda Rousey‘s old record of consecutive title defenses in the shortest time. However, as this has taken a toll on the fighter’s body, rest is the best solution. While talking about his future, Pereira talked about going on a break rather than making a quick return again in 2024.

I think I earned and deserve some rest after this. This was one of the hardest camps to do due to the things happening throughout the camp. So, now I think I want to rest my body.

Pereira mentioned that his fight camp was filled with a variety of injuries, but he never thought about canceling the UFC 307 bout. At the age of 38, the UFC superstar has to take more care of his body. However, some fans predict that ‘Poatan’ will be back in the octagon shortly due to his affinity towards fighting.
