Alex Pereira is definitely one of the most respected fighters on the UFC roster. With just eight fights under the UFC banner, ‘Poatan’ has managed to be in the same bracket as Conor McGregor and Jon Jones. Former UFC champion and BMF title holder, Max Holloway recently made an interesting proposition ahead of Pereira’s upcoming fight at UFC 303.

Max Holloway recently did a live-stream where he talked very highly of light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. The Brazilian is making his second main event matchup this year after headlining UFC 300 just two months back. Holloway said Bruce Buffer should announce ‘Poatan’ in the grandest way possible.

All respect to Pereira man. What is this, his second or third short-notice fight?… I think Bruce Buffer should announce Alex Pereira as ‘The One, The Only’. He’s one of the men that deserve it.

Pereira will headline UFC 303 after replacing Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler matchup on short notice. His opponent will be former light-heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka whom he beat last year in November at UFC 295 to become the 205lb champion.

This title fight will be his second title defense after beating Jamahal Hill, another former champion, at UFC 300. That fight too was a short-notice matchup, which initially would have happened at UFC 301. Alex Pereira has become the UFC’s go-to guy to save the day. This is why Max Holloway said that Buffer should announce Pereira as “The One, The Only” just like Conor McGregor and Jon Jones.

Conor McGregor and Jon Jones are the only fighters ever introduced as “The One, The Only”; could Alex Pereira be next?

Bruce Buffer has uniquely introduced Conor McGregor and Jon Jones as “The One, The Only”. The title reflects their iconic status and impact in MMA and the UFC. Jones and McGregor are not just fighters but cultural phenomena within MMA. The two are the biggest draws in the UFC.

McGregor and Jones have created lasting legacies in the UFC. McGregor’s brash personality and iconic fights won him the superstardom he now enjoys. Meanwhile, Jones is known for his dominance in the light heavyweight division. Moreover, he quickly became the heavyweight champion also. His legacy fight with Stipe Miocic will be one for the history books. ‘Bones’ has arguably never been beaten in his entire 29-fight career.

Being introduced as “The One, The Only” underscores their impact on the sport and their ability to draw significant attention and fanfare to their fights. Alex Pereira may have approached that status with significant fan dedication on social media and the exciting fights he has put on in the past few years. A win against Prochazka at UFC 303 will only add to his legend.
