Francis Ngannou was the big dog in the UFC heavyweight division before he left the promotion last year. The biggest fight everybody wanted to see was Francis Ngannou against Jon Jones, who was the reigning champion in the light heavyweight division. However, has Ngannouโ€™s departure from the UFC extinguished all hope of a clash between the juggernauts? The former UFC fighter had an interesting response to this.

Francis Ngannou recently sat down for a conversation on the JAXXON podcast. During his discussion with Rampage Jackson, โ€˜Rampageโ€™ asked Ngannou if he would consider bringing Jon Jones in as a training partner now that they may never fight in the octagon. โ€˜The Predatorโ€™ revealed that it is not the case.

I don’t know if we may never fight… I think what he needs is just the UFC to want to.

Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou never fought due to a combination of financial disputes, contract negotiations, and timing issues. Jon Jones wanted a substantial pay increase to move up to heavyweight and fight Ngannou. The UFC and Jones could not agree on terms. Meanwhile, Ngannou had his own contract issues with the UFC, expressing dissatisfaction with his pay and seeking better terms.

In this exclusive matchup, each promotion would send their top contender to compete which means there is a possibility that the two UFC legends may face each other in the octagon in the near future.

One of the things that has been discussed, apparently the UFC might be open to because the Saudi’s throw around so much money, is the potential of a joint promotion. A cross-promotion with you vs. Jon Jones. That’s what the world wants to see.
