With speculations regarding his retirement, the 39-year-old heavyweight has now claimed that he has no plans to hang his gloves anytime soon.
After his amazing performance at UFC St. Louis, Derrick Lewis did an interview with ESPN MMA. During the conversation, Lewis revealed that he felt great during the fight and is probably in his prime version. The fighter talked about his future fights and how he hoped to continue finishing people.

Lewis and Rodrigo Nascimento had two rounds of back-and-forth action. However, Lewis landed a vicious punch and finished the fight via TKO in the third. This extended his knockout record and Lewis has the most number of KOs in the UFC. The veteran then went on to remove his shorts for the audience inside the Enterprise Centre.
Derrick Lewis is one of the most entertaining fighters on the UFC roster, and fans love him for his antics both outside and inside the octagon. Fortunately for the fans, Lewis is already coming back with his next fight soon. He didnโt suffer any major damage. As such, fans could expect to see him again soon.
Derrick Lewis eyes the Jailton Almeida rematch next
Given his increasing age, Derrick Lewis is pretty confident about his fighting abilities. โThe Black Beastโ doesnโt want to rest even after a wonderful finish at UFC St. Louis. Lewis wants to get back into the octagon as soon as possible.ย
During the interview, Lewis revealed that he has unfinished business with Jailton Almeida and wants a rematch against the Brazilian.
I would like to get in there soon. Hopefully it’s against Almeida, or anyone, don’t matter.

Lewis and Almeida fought each other at UFC Sao Paulo back last year. Unfortunately, Lewis didnโt perform as expected and lost the fight via unanimous decision. Almeida is currently ranked #7 in the division and lost his last bout against Curtis Blaydes. Despite interest in the bout, the UFC has a history of not booking rematches soon.
