England cricket team’s biggest fan club, England’s Barmy Army is often at the center of criticism for its constant digs at opposition team players. While it shares clips of Steve Smith from the 2019 Ashes to celebrate Jofra Archer, the club often uses pictures and videos involving Virat Kohli to celebrate the England player’s achievements.
With the 1st Ashes Test getting underway on 16 June, Barmy Army dropped another controversial post on social media involving Virat Kohli. As England all-rounder Moeen Ali made a comeback to Test cricket with the first Ashes Test, Barmy Army shared a clip from England’s tour of India in 2021 wherein Ali clean bowls Kohli through the gate.
This tweet from Barmy Army spread like a fire in the woods and soon reached the Indian fans who were left unimpressed with such behavior. Most of them mocked Barmy Army for its “unreal obsession with Virat Kohli”.

A lot of Indian cricket team fans joined hands and schooled Barmy Army for their behavior. Quite a few fans reminded the club that their favorite team has failed to make it to the World Test Championship (WTC) Final even once in two editions.

Notably, this is not the first time Barmy Army has adopted such antics. The club had also shared a clip of Adil Rashid cleaning Virat Kohli up when wishing the leg-spinner on his birthday.
