"She didn't fight the same level of competition," Renato Moicano predicts UFC Denver main event between Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez

The main event fight at UFC Denver will feature a flyweight battle between Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez. There are a lot of theories regarding the outcome going into the fight. Unsurprisingly, UFC lightweight Renato Moicano has provided his prediction for the eagerly awaited matchup.

Renato Moicano recently uploaded a video on his YouTube channel where he previewed the whole UFC Denver card. For the main event, the Brazilian picked Rose Namajunas to come out as the winner. According to Moicano, Tracy Cortez lacks the experience of her opponent which will be the main factor of her loss.

I do believe Tracy Cortez is a good MMA fighter….but she didn’t fight the same level of competition of Rose Namajunas. She has knockout, she has submissions. She is a legend, Rose Namajunas. I don’t see Tracy Cortez winning.

Namajunas originally was supposed to fight Maycee Barber but unfortunately, Barber had to pull out due to a severe illness. This paved the way for Cortez to jump in on short notice and fight the biggest bout of her career. The Phoenix native was revealed to be crying before she was offered the fight against ’Thug Rose’.

As Moicano stated, Namajunas is regarded as a legend in the sport since she has accomplished it all. The fighter took on some of the most formidable foes in UFC women’s history. Namajunas poses a risk both on the feet and the ground. Tracy Cortez will have a difficult night against the former strawweight champion. On the other hand, a win could potentially take Namajunas closer to her ultimate goal.

Rose Namajunas dominated the women’s strawweight division for years, becoming the champion twice with multiple defenses. However, after losing to Carla Esparza at UFC 272, she decided to move up to the flyweight division. Unfortunately, her debut fight didn’t go as planned and she lost to Manon Fiorot via unanimous decision. She did bounce back by getting her first flyweight win earlier this year and is currently eyeing the title shot.

While talking to MMA Junkie, Rose Namajunas mentioned that she never thought of becoming a two-division champ. However, now she can see herself doing it. According to the fighter, a win over Tracy Cortez will push her very close to a potential title shot.

I’m right in that title contention talks. With the win, whatever opportunity they wanna give me, I could see myself fighting for the belt really soon. It’s just a matter of doing my job.

On the other hand, Cortez is eager to get her hands raised and climb further in the flyweight rankings. Cortez has expressed her intentions to surpass her inspiration, Ronda Rousey‘s record. For doing that, winning against Namajunas could be the first step forward.
