The fans are the best part of every sport. After all, they are what makes the game entertaining. They are the ones that build athletes up. However, there are always a few bad apples that walk around with a sense of entitlement, compelling stars to upgrade their security and limit contact with fans when they are out in public.
A similar incident happened to LeBron James, the star forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, who was in New York City over the weekend, as he was enjoying a quaint dinner at the iconic Au Cheval restaurant. A fan approached LeBron James to take a picture with him, and he politely declined as he wanted to enjoy his private time. However, this did not sit well with the fan who proceeded to go live online and share the location of James.
Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton shared his two cents on the fan’s reaction and called him out.
Everybody trying to be content creators and trying to go viral…this is the most influential (person) of our time, of Gen Z, this is our Michael Jordan, this is our Kobe Bryant, this is our Jerry West and we sitting up here s****ing on this man just because he ain’t want to take a picture with your goofy a**…You don’t do that…respect that dude, he’s not a f***ing animal, he’s not a goldfish, he’s a man who has real feelings just like you…

Cam Newton raised valid points. The person who leaked the location of James was attempting to gain clout and go viral with this video, but in the process of that, he ended up disrespecting one of the greatest sportspersons that the world has seen in the last two decades.

Newton went ahead and reminded the fan that athletes too are humans and there are times when they are not going to be the most receptive to fan requests, which is completely okay. If there is one thing that LeBron James has shown fans in the last two decades, it is that he never leaves an opportunity to spend time with the fans and thank them for their continued support. From handing out his shoes to young fans to taking pictures at every turn, Bron has done it all.

To Newton, the last straw was when he saw the actual footage of the person who leaked LeBron’s location. He could not keep himself from getting angry and went as far as to say that he was never a fan of James if he was willing to throw him under the bus like this.
