UFC interim champion Tom Aspinall even accused Jon Jones of not fighting him and holding the division. Recently, in an interview with CBS Sports, Miocic agreed with Aspinall’s sentiments but blamed the promotion for all the mess.

I get it. I’d feel the same way but I’m not taking anything away from him. The UFC can do what they want. It is what it is. There’s only one guy I want to fight, it’s Jon Jones. But at the same time, the UFC can pick who they want. What am I supposed to do? I’m not holding up the division like everyone says. I don’t care.

Jones denied Tom Aspinall a title opportunity revealing the British fighter’s lack of popularity. He doubled down on his statements after showing interest in fighting the much-popular Alex Pereira in a heavyweight clash. On the other hand, all this prolonged inactivity has cost Jones his pound-for-pound position. Nevertheless, fans are now quite positive to see the fighter back in action in November.
