Joe Rogan is one of the most well-recognized faces in the world of combat sports. His affiliation with fighters allows him to harbor some pretty crazy stories. Recently, the popular podcast host shared a wild story from a night out with UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards and comedian Dave Chappelle

Joe Rogan might be the unsung hero of this epic story. He recalled the story in a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. A bodyguard singled out Edwards and asked him to leave. This led to Rogan stepping in between the two and warning the bodyguard.

I know you have probably made some fu***d up mistakes in your life, you’re about to make the biggest one.

The night had started innocently enough. After Edwards appeared on Rogan’s podcast, the trio enjoyed drinks at a club. A bodyguard was tasked with clearing out the venue, and that’s when the altercation happened. Joe Rogan probably saved the bodyguard some unnecessary pain. Rogan explained to the guard that Edwards was “one of the baddest dudes on the planet.”

Leon Edwards, known for his high kick knockout power, could have seriously injured the unsuspecting bodyguard. Interestingly, Edwards himself doesn’t remember the incident. ‘Rocky’ had revealed that he must have been too drunk to recall it. But if the Kamaru Usman knockout is an indicator, the bodyguard was in deep trouble if Rogan hadn’t intervened.

MMA is a very dynamic sport. The variables are huge, and the constants are few. This is what makes the sport exciting and unpredictable. Few moments of sheer brilliance can linger in the minds of fight fans for years or even decades to come. One such moment occurred when Leon Edwards faced Kamaru Usman at UFC 278.

The setting was electric. Salt Lake City buzzed with anticipation for the welterweight title bout. Joe Rogan, the voice of the UFC, couldn’t contain his excitement about the fight’s conclusion. He dubbed Edwards’ head kick knockout of Usman as the greatest in MMA history. This is what he stated:

That was one of the most spectacular head-kick knockouts in the history of the sport, considering the stakes, considering the consequences…I mean, it’s flawless technique… The way he set it up with that left, Kamaru leaned to the right – perfect head kick, out cold.

Usman, then reigning champion, almost cruised towards another successful defense. He was dominating the fight, and Edwards, the challenger, appeared to be fading. Many thought he was destined to lose a decision. But then, with less than a minute left boom! Everything changed. The ‘Headshot dead’ moment was born with Leon Edwards starting his reign as the champion.
