Rampage Jackson recently sat down for a conversation with Demetrious Johnson. During their discussion on the ‘Mighty’ YouTube channel, Jackson talked about why Jon Jones is the real pound-for-pound champion over Islam Makhachev.
I’m not trying to agree with Dana White at all… I think what he’s saying is overall the time that Islam Makhachev has been in the UFC and the time that Jon Jones has been in the UFC… you’re not just talking about who’s pound for pound in the last ten fights or the last five fights, last 12 months, last 24 months. He’s talking about overall in MMA right now.
Rampage Jackson on Mighty podcast
Mind you, Rampage Jackson and Dana White have had their differences. The UFC veteran has called out White for treating him unfairly many times. However, he recognizes Dana White’s contribution to MMA. Jackson said on the podcast that the UFC CEO deserves respect for everything he has done for the sport.
Jackson pointed out that Jon Jones has never lost a fight which was a huge factor in this matter. The only loss the heavyweight champion has on his record should have been a no-contest according to Jackson. He agreed that Islam Makhachev is a good fighter but the fact that he has lost automatically negates his argument in the eyes of Jackson.

While on the same topic, Demetrious Johnson talked about one of his interesting conversations with the UFC CEO. Everybody knows how Dana White loves Conor McGregor. However, he took it to the next level when he called ‘The Notorious’ the best fighter in the world.

Johnson spoke about a dinner conversation with the UFC CEO. According to his account, Dana White was trying to get under his skin and get him to fight TJ Dillashaw.
