Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor‘s rivalry is long and twisted. They have fought three times already and many things happened at the last bout at UFC 264. Now, Poirier is heading into UFC 302 for the lightweight title, and ‘The Notorious’ has backed him to win against Islam Makhachev. However, ‘The Diamond’ had an interesting reaction to his prediction. Here is what happened:
Dustin Poirier recently had a conversation with Jon Bernard Kairouz ahead of UFC 302. During their discussion on the Kairouz Bros YouTube channel, Dustin Poirier reacted to McGregor supporting him to win the fight.

Conor McGregor had talked about ‘The Diamond’ and his showdown for the lightweight belt on his recent live stream. The Irish UFC star predicted Poirier to win by TKO saying that his being a southpaw would help him knock out the Dagestani champion. Makhachev had previously been knocked out in the first round by Adriano Martins who was a southpaw too.
Meanwhile, the former interim champion had his own prediction for Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler at UFC 303. ‘The Notorious’ had injured himself fighting ‘The Diamond’ and will be making his first appearance in the octagon ever since. Poirier predicted that the Irishman would knock down Michael Chandler if he had the “same timing and pop” he had before the injury.

Colby Covington and Dustin Poirier have always exchanged words in the past. They have never fought in the octagon. However, the UFC welterweight addressed instances when Poirier had the opportunity to throw down with him and missed them. He had even accused ‘The Diamond’ of being afraid to face him and ducking him.

Covington and Poirier were previously teammates at the ATT. However, Covington had to leave and he accused ‘The Diamond’ of complaining to the gym owner and having him kicked out of the gym. Though this could be Poirier’s last dance in the octagon, it will be interesting to see if a potential altercation between the two rivals ever takes place.
