‘The Diamond’ and ‘The Eagle’ clashed back in 2019 in Abu Dhabi. Khabib won the fight against Poirier two minutes into the third round. Poirier had Khabib in trouble with a guillotine choke in the second round. Many consider Poirier’s performance the closest to beating ‘The Eagle’.
Nonetheless, Poirier will likely take off after this attempt at the lightweight title. ‘The Diamond’ has repeatedly revealed other plans for his future after UFC 302. They will fight in a few days at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey.
