Dricus Du Plessis confirms potential Israel Adesanya title fight

Dricus Du Plessis has some big plans ahead for his UFC career. The reigning middleweight champion has shown his interest in getting the champ-champ status. In order to do that, the South African is ready to beat the likes of Israel Adesanya and Khamzat Chimaev in the future.

Dricus Du Plessis was recently invited to The Sias du Plessis Show, where the champion laid down his plans. The fighter suggested he would challenge for the light heavyweight title after defeating the best middleweights in his class.

I believe beating Adesanya, if Khamzat beats Whittaker, beating Khamzat, that earns you a spot at lightheavy….Like I said, I have no problem defending my belt a few times before that. For now, my focus is 100% on that middleweight division and my next fight, which in all likelihood would be Israel Adesanya

Du Plessis’ potential target, Khamzat Chimaev, is currently scheduled to fight Robert Whittaker at the upcoming UFC Saudi Arabia event. The hype around the bout is massive, and a win could take the ‘Borz’ closer to the title shot.

On the other hand, Israel Adesanya wanted to fight Dricus Du Plessis on the iconic UFC 300 card. The UFC approached both teams, and the fight was on the table. However, ‘Stillknocks’ rejected the offer due to ongoing leg injuries. Nevertheless, according to the champion, the pair will most likely fight in the near future.
