Ronda Rousey mentality 'better than Kobe Bryant' reveals ex-boyfriend of MMA legend

Ronda Rousey is the first female superstar in MMA. Dana White never wanted women in the UFC, but that changed after he saw Rousey. She recently released a memoir, directing severe criticism against several people, including her ex-boyfriend Brendan Schaub. However, Schaub only has nice things to say about her, such as comparing Rousey to the late Kobe Bryant.

Bryant was one of the best basketball players in the NBA. He spent his entire professional career with the Los Angeles Lakers. The one-time MVP had won the NBA championship five times and had a unique mentality through which he approached the sport. Bryant had named it the ‘Mamba mentality.’ Schaub recently compared the Mamba mentality with the mentality of Rousey.

When you have her [Ronda Rousey] mentality, that Kobe Bryant [Mentality] mentality, and I think her mentality is probably even stronger than Kobe’s. When you have that Ronda mentality, the downside doesn’t come with it. They will never give you a fu**ing inch, and that’s why she’s the greatest female fighter of all time. She won’t give you a fu**ing inch.

Schaub reasoned that this mentality was why Rousey made scathing remarks about him in her memoir. He stated he would’ve never had Rousey in his memoir, citing her as insignificant to his life. As revealed in her memoir, Rousey had accused Schaub of mind games when they were in a relationship.

Rousey had recently claimed to be the best fighter ever in MMA. Moreover, she attributed her losses in the UFC to a variety of reasons, one being a concussion. She even criticized Vince McMahon and the WWE recently. Nevertheless, she is one of the pioneers of women’s MMA.

Royce Gracie was responsible for the popularity of MMA, especially Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Even though he was smaller, he won three of the first four UFC tournaments against significantly bigger opponents. As such, many include Gracie in the Mount Rushmore of MMA.

Gracie was exceptional in BJJ, but all the other fighters in the initial tournaments were wrestlers and strikers. They did not know about BJJ, and Gracie easily submitted them. Ex-UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub recently compared his ex-girlfriend Ronda Rousey with Gracie.

She’s basically the Royce Gracie of female fighters. Like, she is what Royce Gracie stood for in men’s fighting. She’s the Royce Gracie for women. She’s the pioneer. Royce Gracie couldn’t strike, didn’t have all the skills, but still won and became a champion. She was kind of similar, couldn’t really strike, dominated, and then it catches up to them.

Schaub’s comparison was spot on. Even though Gracie was successful in his early career, Matt Hughes, one of the best wrestlers in the UFC, easily defeated him later on. Similarly, Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, some of the best strikers in the UFC, easily knocked out Rousey. Nevertheless, their contribution to MMA is much bigger than Hughes, Holm, or Nunes.
