Khalil Rountree Jr. was recently found with banned substances in his system. He was supposed to fight Jamahal Hill at UFC 303 on the Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler undercard. Rountree himself admitted to testing positive due to consumption of tainted supplements. However, UFC veteran Robert Whittaker was not ready to believe him just yet.
Robert Whittaker recently sat down to have a conversation about the latest updates in the world of MMA. During his discussion on the MMArcade Podcast, Khalil Rountree Jr.โs case came up.
There’s a chance, there wasn’t any tainted supplements to begin with. It’s like I’m not going to go to his house and find out. But again, there’s also a chance he’s completely innocent and everything he’s saying is legit, you just don’t know.

Whittaker was not going to pick sides or point fingers just yet. He said that there was no way for him to know if Rountree did take tainted supplements or was lying. All he had to say was that if such a situation ever happened to him where he took a supplement that had a banned substance, not mentioned on the label, he would sue the company for as much money as he could.
Whittaker pointed out that more than the money, a fighterโs reputation is โdown the drainโ when he gets involved in such a situation. In this situation, Khalil Rountree Jr. cannot land a fight until his case is resolved. If found guilty he could face a one-three year ban, which is significant time for a fighter.
Will Robert Whittakerโs fight against Khamzat Chimaev land him a title shot?
The UFC is making its debut in Saudi Arabia and Robert Whittaker will headline the main event along with Khamzat Chimaev. Whittaker is a former UFC middleweight champion while Chimaev, with over 13 professional fights has not tasted defeat even once. They will fight this June at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Whittaker recently did an interview with Anderson and Phil Murphy on a recent episode of โThe Megan Anderson Showโ. During the interview, Whittaker mentioned a potential title shot if he beat Khamzat Chimaev.
Certainly, beating Chimaev opens me up to a title shot. Thereโs no other way around it. Iโve beaten everybody else.

But why would Whittaker be the title contender if he beats Khamzat Chimaev? According to โThe Reaperโ, his โbeating the boogeyman of the divisionโ would make him look very good. Whittaker currently ranks #3 on the UFCโs middleweight rankings. Thus he has a pretty good chance of being in line for the title if he beats the Chechen at UFC Saudi Arabia.
