Themba Gorimbo defeated Ramiz Brahimaj in a boring fight

Themba Gorimbo defeated Ramiz Brahimaj at UFC Vegas 92 in a lackluster fight via unanimous decision. The Zimbabwean had a tough fight camp due to the death of one of his coach’s mother. Nonetheless, something else bothered him as he went into the fight against Brahimaj.

In his previous fight, Gorimbo had secured a knockout victory over Pete Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 85. However, his performance against Brahimaj didn’t excite the fans. Nonetheless, Gorimbo was visibly emotional and used stern words against people who subjected him to online hate in the octagon interview.

When you see me cry with all your judgy judgy on the comment sections and all that, look yourself in the mirror. Death is going to visit you one day, sometimes unexpectedly. And guess what, you’re going to have a problem because people like you that are online taunting me, asking why am I crying, I robbed that man of his mother’s last moments.

Gorimbo’s wrestling coach’s mother lost her battle to cancer. However, the coach couldn’t see his mother in her dying moments due to Gorimbo’s training camp. As such, Gorimbo felt guilty and cried at the pre-fight press conference, which appeared to have attracted online hate.

Gorimbo also revealed a man had robbed him of having final moments with his father in the past. Nonetheless, Gorimbo refused to speak much more in the octagon interview with Paul Felder, citing his fight was boring.

After Themba Gorimbo defeated Pete Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 85, headlined by Roman Dolidze and Nassourdine Imavov, Gorimbo vowed he would soon become champion. The welterweight rising star stated he would eagerly await short-notice opportunities to rise in the rankings.

However, his performance at UFC Vegas 92 didn’t point that way. Even though Gorimbo won via unanimous decision, the fight didn’t offer much to the spectators. To add insult to injury, his opponent, Ramiz Brahimaj, was coming after more than a two-year lay-off. Gorimbo himself stated he had a boring fight in the octagon interview.

All three rounds of the fight had Gorimbo in a dominant grappling position, but he didn’t do much with it. Since Brahimaj was coming off a long lay-off and looked hesitant to engage, the onus was on Gorimbo to make the fight, but he didn’t.

With Ilia Topuria as the featherweight champion and contenders like Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, Brian Ortega, and many others in the rankings, Gorimbo’s ambition to become champion soon is far-fetched.
