Former two-division champion Daniel Cormier is one of the all-time greats in the UFC. Nobody has fought the Hall of Famer more inside the octagon than Stipe Miocic, the arguable heavyweight UFC GOAT. In a recent podcast appearance, Miocic heard something hilarious about Cormier from a fellow UFC legend.

Cormier fought Miocic thrice in the UFC. After losing the first fight via KO, Miocic won the rematch via KO and the rubber match via decision. Despite the storied rivalry, the duo has an entirely different physical structure, which became the butt of a joke for Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson on the JAXXON podcast with Miocic as guest.

DC [Daniel Cormier], he just doesn’t look like a fighter…If you [Bear Degedio] see DC and you see him [Stipe Miocic] like walking down in, oh, that guy, he’s like an athlete, like a football player or something, yeah, and like DC must be his manager.

Nonetheless, Jackson stated looks don’t matter in a fight. Jackson even admitted Cormier would’ve beaten him even when he was in his prime, citing the superior wrestling skills of Cormier. Miocic agreed with the thought, citing Fedor Emelianenko as another example.

Cormier was the first simultaneous double champion in the UFC to defend both belts. He retired from MMA after he lost the trilogy fight against Miocic. The UFC inducted him and his close friend Khabib Nurmagomedov in the 2022 Class of Hall of Fame. Now, he is a staple in the UFC PPV commentary booth.

Play-by-play commentator Jon Anik is the arguable GOAT of MMA commentary. He recently broke Joe Rogan‘s record for most fights called. With Anik and Rogan, Daniel Cormier is the staple of the UFC’s domestic PPV commentary team. Irrespective of location, Anik and Cormier are a surety for UFC PPVs.

Stipe Miocic recently had great things to say about Cormier’s commentary work in the UFC on the JAXXON podcast. Rampage Jackson and Bear Degidio, the podcast co-hosts, also had a similar opinion about DC.

He [Daniel Cormier] does a great job, yeah, yeah. He brought like different hype to it because you’re like, ‘Oh, Carl’s going here from Nebraska for take down,’ and you know, and here in DC, he’s like, ‘Oh my god, did you see that take down with the angle? Oh my God!’ Like, he kind of pumped it up a little bit. He’s doing a fu**ing great job.

Even though he had a storied rivalry with Miocic, Cormier’s most heated rivalry was with Jon Jones. Jones is now the heavyweight champion but has not fought for some time due to injury. He was set to fight Miocic at UFC 295 before the injury. Miocic recently revealed he would fight Jones in November of 2024 at MSG. The full-time firefighter is adamant about fighting Jones and no other.
