UFC’s color commentator and veteran podcast Joe Rogan touts a shredded physique. But that does not mean he cannot hold a certain zeal of envy towards even those more prominently shredded. Consequently, ex-NAVY Seal David Goggins has hilariously caught his attention many times.

The prominent The Joe Rogan Experience podcast earns its right as the highly billed tune-in sensation for a reason. Joe Rogan does his due diligence to touch on a plethora of topics and commends his respect for others when deserving. David Goggins is a household name when it comes to fitness; moreover, Rogan reveres his physicality.

Look how jacked he looks, Jesus Christ I’m jealous…I wanna be built like that…That’s ridiculous! He looks like fu*king Yoel Romero!

Rogan postulated that the veteran’s “Hell Week” training for Tony Ferguson before UFC 296 did not suffice for sparring or striking. However, he has always remained in awe of Goggins. He was stupefied at a 300+ pound David Goggins toning down as a SEAL and recouping from patella bone fractures. Now, he compares him to Yoel Romero, who he once called a genetic superhuman.

Yoel Romero Palacio, currently a Bellator MMA light heavyweight, is a revered name in the sport. Many super athletes find prime contrasts with his name. Even the undefeated heavyweight Robelis Despaigne – called the “Cuban Ngannou,” fashions stylistic similarities with the ex-UFC contender. This says volumes about Goggins. Who isn’t an active martial artist.

David Goggins has been a magnetic name in combat sports culture despite not being part of any active roster. His association with Tony Ferguson or buzzing rumors around Jon Jones’ UFC 285 fight week prepping have bolstered him to new heights. Recently, Joe Rogan touched upon his physicality. But that doesn’t even touch upon his feats. Goggins failed to surpass the world Pull-Up Record several times before actually succeeding.

Goggins had put much focus on strength, endurance, and extended cardio; which is how he trains others as well. The 40,000 dummy reps he put in the effort became a prime factor in prepping him for the job. However, the standard Olympian bar did not have the best grip for his first attempt; he capped out at 2,500 reps.

He made a second attempt in just two months with a choice bar at his disposal. Unwrapping his gloves, he’d go on to find skin peeled off after ten hours of heated exertion. Twelve hours later, he managed to do 3,000 reps. He did not let the bloody blisters hinder the process; after 17 grueling hours, he topped the record at 4,030 reps.

His Pull-Up Record is just a parcel of his achievement. There’s a reason even fitness freaks and Taekwondo prodigies like Joe Rogan would be in awe of such a guy. If one has to improve upon themselves, one just has to take a page from Goggin’s book of determination and resolve.
