Jose Aldo recently made a spectacular comeback at UFC 301. But before penning Jonathan Martinez, the UFC legend had three other opponents in mind. However, all bailed on him due to some form of injury. He talked about it after an incredible performance almost two years away from the octagon.
Jose Aldo beat Jonathan Martinez by unanimous decision at the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro. However, he was not his first choice to enter the octagon with.
I had asked to fight Sandhagen but he was hurt. But before that I messaged Henry Cejudo talking about this possibility. But he had just fought and would go through shoulder surgery. So that’s why it couldn’t happen here in Rio either… That could have been a Henry and Dominick right? So it was 2 guys that we talked about a lot for this to happen.

Aldo revealed that he texted Cejudo himself. The UFC legend revealed that he asked Cejudo what he thought about facing him, even if not in Rio at UFC 301. But Cejudo reportedly said no because he was going through surgery.

However, Aldo is over it because he has new opponents in mind. The Brazilian legend wants a shot at the bantamweight against Sean O’Malley. He had also revealed intentions of getting into the boxing ring later this year. There is a possibility of the UFC legend returning to the octagon with a fresh contract from Dana White. It is definitely an interesting time for all Aldo fans.
