Alex Pereira teases UFC 301 return

After UFC 300 success, Alex Pereira is already back in the light heavyweight business. The light heavyweight division is stacked with some incredible fighters who waited eagerly for the title. Being the champion, Pereira has laid out his plans to fight his next opponents.

In a recent interview at UFC 301 media scrum, Alex Pereira was asked about the upcoming title defense. While responding to it, the Brazilian mentioned that he doesn’t want to wait for Magomed Ankalaev. He revealed that Jiri Prochazka was a better opponent for him as the next title defense.

I think if I wait for that fight it will take too long. I want to fight earlier than that and I think, as far as we know, most likely the next in line is going to be Prochazka. Ankalaev is going to have to wait a little bit. I know Jamahal Hill’s been talking some trash, but is also going to have to wait a little longer. I think Prochazka’s the next one.

Alex Pereira’s UFC 300 performance was nothing short of pure dominance. He wasn’t hurt during the fight and wanted to get back into the action as soon as possible. ‘Poatan’ has also revealed that he took the decision to avoid Magomed Ankaev after speaking with UFC. Pereira does not want to wait for Ankalaev as the Dagestani fighter wants the title shot in October when the UFC visits Abu Dhabi.

Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira fought each other at UFC 295 for the vacant light heavyweight title. The fight ended in the second round after ‘Poatan’ dropped the Czech via TKO. However, Prochazka has bounced back at UFC 300 and remains confident about beating Pereira in the rematch.
