Volkanovski may have lost his UFC featherweight title to Ilia Topuria. However, he still believes his longtime rival, Max Holloway, has what it takes to dethrone the new champion. It is safe to say Topuria wasn’t happy about this.
Topuria took to Instagram to mock Alexander Vollkanovksi’s take on him vs. Holloway. He put up a picture of himself knocking out Volkanovski at UFC 298. The caption of this image shows the Spaniard firing insults at both Volkanovski and Max Holloway.

Volkanovski talked about a potential Holloway vs. Topuria fight in a recent interview. He questioned whether the undefeated Georgian was truly ready for the top contenders at 145 lbs. Volkanovski threw his full support behind Holloway and believed that he had the capability to dethrone Topuria. The former champ seemed bemused by Topuria’s recent comments about wanting a big-money fight against Conor McGregor or Islam Makhachev instead of defending against top contenders.
Topuria, however, does not back down from his claims. He recently vowed to become the highest-paid athlete by 2025. This goal is enormous, but his personality and self-confidence can actually make this true. It is now up to the UFC to make a great fight for the future of the featherweight division.

The latest social media exchange between Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria is here. The newly minted BMF champion agreed to put his “Baddest Motherf***er” title on the line against the new 145 lbs champion. However, it did not come without throwing some classic “Blessed” shade first.

The undefeated Georgian then issued a direct challenge to Holloway, demanding he “bring your belt” to their potential title unification bout. The Hawaiian fighter seemed unfazed by Topuria’s attempts to wrestle away his negotiating power. Holloway hasn’t exactly remained shy about wanting a crack at Topuria. Now with Holloway accepting Topuria’s challenge, the two fiery featherweights have a high-stakes bout to look forward to. One man will leave as the undisputed king of the division while clutching two prestigious titles if the UFC books it that way.
