Jorge Masvidal is ready to up the game of his boxing career in the future. ‘Gamebred’ has remained busy after his retirement from UFC last year. After obtaining permission from the UFC, Masvidal is now trying his luck in boxing to earn some hefty money.

Jorge Masvidal recently sat down with DJ Vlad to talk about his boxing endeavors. The fighter went into detail on his UFC contract and future opponents. The former BMF title holder talked about fighting real boxers after he finishes his business with Nate Diaz next.

I’m still in contract with the UFC. I’m retired, but they still hold my contract and I just can’t walk away, I have to honor that contract. But they were gracious enough to allow me to go box for three fights. I have three huge fights coming up. First one Nate Diaz and the next two are gonna be only bigger fights. I have way bigger names. Boxers, actually boxers.

Jorge Masvidal is set to fight his former rival Nate Diaz on June 1 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. The bout will have ten rounds in the 175-pound light heavyweight bout. The last time the pair fought was inside the octagon at UFC 244, which Masvidal won via TKO. It’s a great opportunity for the Stockton native to settle his score. Similarly, Masvidal needs to get a good start on his boxing career.

From being one of the UFC’s biggest draws, Masvidal has maintained the same level of fan base since his retirement. His ability to sell pay-per-views and engage in trash talk are also excellent components of his business model. Knowing the boxers Masvidal intends to take on is interesting. However, Jake Paul is not on the list at all.

Masvidal opened up about one of his encounters with Paul, where he learned how boxing helped the fighter get better. The fighter talked about Paul’s childhood and addiction to drugs. As a result, Masvidal appreciated ‘The Problem Child’ turning his life around.

He grew up in the Disney world, Hollywood and the parties, the drugs, the women. He told me that boxing helped him to get away from that… I really liked that as an athlete.

Fans expected Masvidal to fight Jake Paul in a boxing bout after their recent online altercation. However, the UFC legend rejected the idea due to his relationship with the UFC. At the same time, it won’t be surprising to see the pair getting at each other in the future.
