It was NBA Sunday for Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, along with his wife, Brittany Mahomes, attended his favorite Dallas Mavericks (39-29) take on the Denver Nuggets (41-29) at the American Airlines Center in Texas.

It has only been over a month since Mahomes bagged his third Super Bowl ring, but that doesn’t mean he will sit at home and chomp on Kansas BBQ. Instead, he and Brittany are busy expanding their horizons.

On Saturday, the Chiefs power couple inaugurated the KC Current’s new 11,000-seat CPKC Stadium on the banks of the Missouri River. A day later, they hopped on a plane and headed back to their hometown of Texas. Growing up in a family of sports enthusiasts, the 28-year-old has exposure to several sports, including football. Basketball is one of them.

Being a local boy, he became a Dallas Mavericks supporter. He often shows up at their games when the Chiefs are not playing or during the offseason. Patrick and Brittany had a warm welcome inside the stadium and found seats in the front row.

They were thoroughly enjoying a hotly contested game, with both sides trading baskets. When the scores were tied at 70 in the third quarter, the Mavericks had possession. Derrick Jones Jr. received a pass from the center, near the corner. He sidestepped the first Nuggets defender and then shimmied the next one to hack in a powerful dunk, riling up the tensed crowd.

One of the excited fans was Patrick Mahomes. When Jones basketted the ball, he stood up in awe of the move.

Patrick Mahomes thanked Kyrie Irving after the game

The game went down to the wire, and either side wasn’t ready to give up an inch. It took Kyrie Irving‘s magic to make the difference in the end. With 2.8 seconds left on the clock, Irving received the ball in awkward positions near the D.

He cut inside the center and looped the ball with his left hand. As the electronic board showed zero on the clock, the Mavericks scored the final points to win the game 107-105.

Chaos erupted after the basket. Teammates flocked on top of Irving and celebrated as if they had qualified for the playoffs. That’s still a long way to go. After the game, the 31-year-old was walking back to the locker room with his kid when Patrick Mahomes came and hugged him.

Greatness, dawg, greatness.
Mahomes said

Irving finished the night with 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Luka Doncic bagged 37 points, 9 rebounds, and a signed Kansas City Chiefs No. 15 jersey.
