NBA Sundays are always exciting as the fans get to see some of the toughest teams compete against each other. This Sunday, one of the NBA’s favorite duos, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic, faced each other. Despite it being a battle between two MVP contenders, neither one of them was the star of the show.

The Dallas Mavericks‘ Kyrie Irving was the player of the game as he got the win over the second seed in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets. It was a back-and-forth game as the Nuggets were holding on to their lead through the first two quarters. But the Mavericks took over in the third and got the lead. The team was also then leading till the end of fourth but things started to change with four minutes left.

As the Nuggets started to figure it out, with 26.8 seconds left in the game, Jamal Murray shot a three-pointer and gave the Nuggets a three-point lead. Not even three seconds later in the game, Doncic shot a long three and tied the game. On the next possession, the Nuggets failed to score as Murray missed a shot and the Mavericks called for a timeout.

Coming out of the timeout and 2.8 seconds left in regulation, Maxi Kleber avoided doing the obvious of giving the ball to Doncic. Kleber passed the ball to Irving, who took advantage of his speed and ran close to the free throw line and shot an unreal left-handed floater. The whole arena erupted after Irving’s game-winning shot.
