$700 million worth Crypto Arena has stop clock problems at Lakers vs. Warriors

The Los Angeles Lakers welcomed their Pacific Division rivals, the Golden State Warriors last night to the Crypto.com Arena for an entertaining game of basketball. The Warriors prevailed over the Lakers 128-121 despite starting the first quarter slowly.

LeBron James, the evergreen superstar for the Los Angeles Lakers topped the stats with 40 points (season tie-high), eight rebounds, and nine assists. Fellow veteran and rival, Steph Curry scored 31 points, had six rebounds, and created five assists.

A game between the Lakers and the Warriors always serves premium entertainment and it didn’t disappoint, and fans at the arena and home were dealt with a bizarre incident that occurred during the last quarter of the game. The arena’s shot clock got tired of waiting for the officials to decide on two contentious calls during the game. The shot clock had initially been malfunctioning, as it gave free seconds to the Warriors.

The game also witnessed officiating inconsistencies, excessive time-wasting and frustrated fans and players alike. For an arena as sophisticated as the Crypto.com Arena, one would expect that their technology should be able to work when needed. However, that didn’t stop the Dubs from eventually holding on to claim the tough win.

The arena is one of the most sophisticated arenas, with state-of-the-art facilities but experienced a disaster when its shot clock malfunctioned and disrupted the flow of what was an intense game.
