The rookie is already breaking multiple records in his first year in the league. As anticipated, the center is getting the star treatment in his rookie year. But it seems as if not everyone is happy with Wembanyama’s performance.
Victor Wembanyama was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs. The player has been a great addition to the team, as despite being the last team in the Western Conference, fans still watch and support Wembanyama. However, the Spurs teammates may not be happy with this, as the team recently showed an extreme lack of chemistry on the court.
The Spurs played against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. A certain play from the game went viral, and with less than three minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Spurs were down by nine points.
Spurs’ guard Tre Jones had the ball, and in the viral clip, the player was seen dribbling the ball and moving around the court to get a good look. However, despite struggling, the player did not pass the ball to Wembanyama.
Wembanyama was close to Jones and was seen asking for the ball but did not get a response. The shot clock went off in the process, and the Spurs ended up turning the ball over. As expected, the moment quickly caught fans’ attention. The game was very close in the final seconds, but the Spurs could not hold the Rockets and eventually lost 101-103.

Fans were quick to notice the team’s lack of chemistry. The Spurs are coached by Gregg Popovich, who is considered one of the best coaches in NBA history. Hence, the play was surprising for fans and Jones not passing the ball despite struggling did not sit well with fans.

Wembanyama quickly grabbed the ball and shot it, but was unable to score. This caused a shot clock violation, and the Spurs were forced to turn the ball over. That’s not all; HC Popovich could not hide his disappointment as well.

In the loss, Wembanyama scored another double-double with 13 points and 10 assists. Despite the disappointing moment, Jones scored 24 points, three rebounds, and five assists. Jeremy Sochan also added 21 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. None of these performances were enough for the Spurs to win.
