The Boston Celtics broke the record of the largest halftime lead in franchise history against the Golden State Warriors. The Celtics kept the Warriors on their toes with a dominating 52-point win. Basketball fans were shocked by the outstanding performance of the Celtics and the underwhelming performance of the Warriors.

More than a few reasons were responsible for the Warriors’ terrible blowout. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr turned heads with his strategies earlier in the game. As the Warriors forward, Draymond Green who is known as a great defender chose not to guard Celtics Jaylen Brown in the first quarter. Which resulted in the guard taking twelve shots in the first quarter.

Green underestimating Brown resulted poorly for the player. Brown scored a total of 19 points in the first quarter alone. Later, in the post-game press conference, Brown was asked about his thoughts on the Warriors’ strategy to not guard the player.

If you want to dare me to shoot, we can do that too. I thought it was a little disrespectful.

Further, the guard talked about his role in the paint for his team. And how he does not intend to shoot three-point shots, unlike his teammates. Brown took offense to the Warriors’ strategy. According to Brown, the Celtics benefitted from the disrespect.

At the beginning of the game, Warriors forward Draymond Green decided not to guard Celtics’ Jaylen Brown. Whenever Brown would settle at the three-point line, Green kept a distance from the player and stayed in the paint. The decision did not turn out well for the Warriors as Brown ended up scoring 19 points in the quarter.

The Warriors ended up losing the game by a large margin of 52 points. After the game, Steve Kerr was asked about the reason behind the strategy regarding Brown during the press conference.

Kerr answered by saying the team had a different strategy for Green and wanted the forward to help prevent the drives and giving up points in the paint. Kerr mentioned the team had transition issues. According to Kerr, one of the reasons the Warriors lost the game was because of the lack of defensive awareness.
