The Super Bowl wound is still fresh for Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers. And now, the former NBA champion Richard Jefferson rubs some salt in it.

During the NBA All-Star celebrity game broadcast, the former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Richard Jefferson took a brutal shot at the Niners’ Super Bowl blunder in overtime. If you don’t know the rules, it can be very detrimental. Just ask the 49ers.

Last Sunday, when the Super Bowl went into overtime, the 49ers surprisingly opted to receive the ball, which surprised many people. Later, some of the Niners players even admitted that they weren’t aware of the new overtime rules that would allow both teams to get the ball. Even the Kansas City Chiefs players claimed they knew the Niners messed up when they decided to take the ball in overtime.

According to reports, they were preparing for a situation like this throughout the entire season. The 49ers received a lot of heat for their decision to receive the ball. Many believe that the decision cost them the game. And now, the former NBA champion Richard Jefferson took a swipe at the NFC champions. Head coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers wouldn’t hear the end of it until they win a championship ring.

Later in the press conference, Kyle Shanahan was asked about his players not knowing the new rules. Shanahan said he advised the players to have a talk with their position coaches during the coin toss.

Well, yeah, I mean we did say and we told everyone as we were waiting for the coin toss, hey, review everyone with them, make sure they’re sure before we go out. So, we asked the position coaches to do that, but I didn’t cover it in a meeting on the Super Bowl week.

Nonetheless, the blunder proved to be a costly mistake. As a result, Kyle Shanahan remains ringless as a head coach and people are starting to question his coaching skills.
