After a brilliant regular season, the San Francisco 49ers failed to win the Super Bowl in a high-voltage encounter on Sunday. It was an intense battle between the two teams and in the end, the Kansas City Chiefs emerged victorious in the overtime.
Following the defeat against the Chiefs, the head coach claimed that neither he nor the players had much experience regarding the new overtime rule in the NFL. That statement attracted much criticism from the analysts.
Nevertheless, Richard Sherman, a former player, and present-day analyst, believed that Sherman did not deserve all the blame for the OT loss of the Niners. He took the side of the HC and stated that he is one of the finest head coaches.
I think he is still one of the best. I think it is unfortunate, the circumstances. I think they had a chance to win the game. You know it is not all on him. I think he gets all the blame but you know some of it in the first Super Bowl. There were defensive plays that were blunders. It is not on Kyle Shanahan. He is the head coach, but he has not called the defense.

Sherman later argued that the first touchdown that was scored by the Chiefs came from a defensive lapse of the 49ers and Shanahan frankly had nothing to do with that. The analyst claimed that the HC did not tell his defense to make mistakes. It was an error that just happened and Shanahan should not be blamed for the mistake.

In the same segment, the former CB further claimed that Shanahan has miles to go and he would taste success in the coming years. He gave an example of none other than Andy Reid, who, despite being successful, won his first Super Bowl nearly after two decades of being a head coach. He tasted supreme success for the first time with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Shanahan did provide a hell of a season for the 49ers. Nevertheless, he has to start from scratch for the coming season.
