Nathon Lyon spoke about Moeen Ali coming out of Test retirement to play the Ashes during the Day 4 press conference and went on to give another wild response to one of the reporters. Answering one of the reporters, Lyon said he doesn’t have to tell him what he does in his hotel room.
The first test of Ashes 2023 is set to have an interesting Day 5 courtesy of some early scalps by Stuart Broad towards the end of Day 4. During the press conference for Day 4, Lyon was asked about how he maintains his spinning fingers and how he keeps the skin on his fingers strong, to which he had a rather unusual response.
The Australia spinner left everyone in chuckles with his reply. Lyon was not ready to reveal the technique he uses to keep himself ready for long bowling spells.
Nathan Lyon’s peculiar response
The reporter is seen asking Nathon Lyon what he does to keep the skin on his spinning fingers strong enough to maintain the grip and execute correctly. Lyon replies to that rather cheekily and says he does have a technique but he won’t reveal to the world what he does in his hotel room! His response left the entire audience in stitches.
The reporter asks if Lyon follows Graeme Swann‘s advice to maintain his fingers’ skin to which he doesn’t give a clear reply. “I don’t have to tell you what I do in my hotel room. We’ll leave it at that,” said Lyon.
Talking about Lyon’s performances in the first Ashes Test, the Australia spinner scalped eight wickets in the two innings (four in each). Lyon outperformed his English counterpart, Moeen Ali by a fair distance.
