The Los Angeles Lakers duo have not played together much since, but the prospect of that does excite fans. With the All-Star weekend coming up, the NBA tried to involve the duo again.

LeBron James and Bronny James entered the Opening Night game together as teammates, sending Crypto.com Arena and the rest of the world to rejoice. However, since then, the shine has gone and not many are talking about the duo.

Sources: Sources: LeBron James and Bronny James turned down opportunity to further make history by being first father-son duo to participate in Skills Challenge at All-Star Weekend.

Chris Haynes wrote

Haynes added that Bronny James was offered the chance to be a part of the G-League team which participates in the rookie challenge. However, he turned that down too. The father-son duo could have made history by participating in the Skills challenge. But it seems they thought about the consequences and declined.

Narrative surrounding Bronny James could have led LeBron James to decline invite

Since coming into the NBA, Bronny James has not had a tremendous run. Rather, he has been subjected to ridicule with the way his career has progressed so far. After those initial few games, he joined their G-League affiliate to play home games.

That brought out another discourse suggesting he was being babied by the Los Angeles Lakers. To make matters worse, his first few games there gave the impression that he was just not ready for the big league. However, he did turn the corner and had some good games.

But after those games, the senior team recalled him back. Now he graces the bench again and is the biggest cheerleader when his father has a highlight reel play. Other than that, he is yet to score in any of the past four games this calendar year.

All of that would have weighed heavily against him had he taken part in the skills challenge alongside LeBron James. The narratives would have again pointed at nepotism and favoritism from the league. The league would not have minded it one bit, but it seems the James family decided for the better.
