Mother Nature had other ideas, even though the Los Angeles Lakers were supposed to start a five-game home stand earlier this week. Fueled by a nearly year-long drought, intensifying climate change effects, and particularly fierce Santa Ana winds, some of the biggest wildfires in Southern California history struck the region earlier this week. However, Lakers HC JJ Redick, who also is a victim of this situation, made a strong claim despite the turmoil in LA.
After practice on Friday, Redick’s feelings were clear as he discussed losing his house to the wildfires destroying Los Angeles, but there was also assurance about the future. The NBA delayed the Lakers’ Thursday contest versus the Hornets. As of now, the Spurs game on Saturday is still scheduled to go.
Redick also disclosed that his Palisades rental house had burned down. Thankfully, no casualties were reported. Additionally, Redick and the Lakers will be getting back on the court after a demanding week off if they get their way.

With a record of 20-16, the Lakers are now ranked as the sixth seed in the Western Conference, only 2 games ahead of the Spurs, who are ranked 10th (18-19). The Lakers have lost both of their previous matchups.
Aside from this, Lakers stars Anthony Davis and LeBron James donated to the people who have suffered through these wildfires. The situation in LA does not look good, with many losing their houses and some their lives. The NBA will provide a further decision on the Los Angeles-based franchise’s games in the coming days.
