New Year’s celebrations in the United States were overshadowed by a tragic incident in New Orleans, where 15 lives were lost. The attack occurred when a 42-year-old Army veteran, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street. In the aftermath, UFC star Sean Strickland made some controversial comments, which received significant backlash from fans.
Sean Strickland, known for his patriotic sentiments, took to X to share his frustration over the situation. His anger was particularly directed towards Muslims as he publicly bashed the Islamic religion and its values. The FBI is investigating the incident as an act of terrorism and is eager to find the roots of it. They are trying to find out whether Jabbar was acting alone or had other accompanies.
An Islamic State (ISIS) flag was discovered inside the truck, and authorities found improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the scene. All this indicated that the attack was premeditated and inspired by extremist ideologies. Strickland, however, doesn’t buy this idea and in his tweet accused Islam in general of violence and oppression.
Islamic extremist…… You mean people who actually follow the Qurans teaching? Islam contributes nothing to the world besides violence and oppression.
It is not compatible with America and freedom.

America is a country of Christ. You could be Christian, catholic, atheist BUT our core values is that of Christ. I have nothing against Islam or Muslims
BUT!!!!!!!!
Islam should stay in Islamic countries. Although you would all benefit from Christ.
*I’m agnostic

The fighter claimed that the US is a Christian country and there is no place for Islam and its followers, who seek violence. As expected, all these tweets attracted a variety of criticism who didn’t agree with Strickland’s views. The former middleweight champion also had feuds with users about the teachings of the Quran and Islam as a whole.
Apart from the New Orleans truck attack, there was another blast involving a Tesla Cybertruck that occurred in Las Vegas. It took place in front of the Trump International Hotel and the FBI is investigating to find a connection between the this and the New Orleans incident. Nevertheless, Sean Strickland has already made up his mind and isn’t shying away from blaming Islam for this.
Strickland has always been unapologetic with his comments on sensitive matters and has often received criticism. It has also resulted in online altercations with other UFC fighters such as Belal Muhammad. This time, the welterweight champion took the opportunity to mock the ‘Tarzan’ by using his childhood trauma.
Wasn’t this the guy crying because his Christian American dad used to touch him https://t.co/8Us88zePlq

In the past, both fighters have exchanged verbal jibes over their respective opinions on the ongoing Israel-Palestine war. Strickland had previously said that he doesn’t make fun of Muslims due to an incident that happened in the gym. However, it seems like this time, the fighter couldn’t contain himself with the ongoing situation.
