Kamaru Usman is one of the most popular UFC superstars in recent times. The former welterweight champion has remained out of the limelight for some time now. However, it seems like the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ is ready for his much-anticipated return and has someone like Jack Della Maddalena on his mind.

Jack Della Maddalena vs. Kamaru Usman for UFC 312 has been rumored within the MMA community for some days now. Recently, in an interview, Usman was asked about it. The fighter gave a positive response and revealed that he was ready to fight anybody.

It’s time for me to be honest with myself and be prepared to go in there and do that Absolutely. I have been through guys and guys and guys in this division and it doesn’t matter who the guy is as long as I’m prepared…I’ll jump in there and put it to the test.

Maddalena is currently the #4 ranked fighter in the division and is on a 15-fight win streak. In his last fight, the fighter defeated Gilbert Burns via KO, and this time wanted to do the same against Usman. A win against a veteran like Usman could definitely push him into the title race.

Usman, on the other hand, is on his last stint as a professional UFC fighter. At the age of 37, the former champion is close to retirement but hasn’t lost his eagerness to compete. It would be interesting to see both of these fighters battle it out in order to achieve welterweight glory.

UFC legend talks about Kamaru Usman’s destroyed knees

Kamaru Usman dominated the UFC welterweight division with unmatched wrestling, relentless pressure, and evolving striking. Holding the title from 2019 to 2022, the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ defended it five times, defeating elite opponents like Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal, and Gilbert Burns. His cardio, IQ, and composure cemented his legacy as one of the best.

However, his reign was stopped by Leon Edwards with the iconic head kick at UFC 278. However, many fans sympathize with Usman given the condition of his knees due to fighting. In a podcast, Joe Rogan talked about it in detail.

Kamaru has destroyed knees. His knees are f**ked up. It’s like he’s in constant pain. He fights in pain. His knees are so f**ked up that he walks down the stairs backwards. If you look at the difference between the musculature in his legs and the musculature in his upper body, it’s a drastic difference.

Irrespective of all this, Usman is still active and isn’t scared of young and hungry talents in the welterweight division. According to the fighter, he is still the boogeyman of this division and won’t let anybody take his place that easily. After his last few losses, Usman is in desperate need of getting into winning days.
