The Grizzlies dominated from beginning to end, and the Warriors’ subpar performance was a team effort. Both the final margin of 51 points and the deficit of 57 points were the biggest in the NBA this season. Steve Kerr, the coach, called the defeat “humbling,” and Curry accepted responsibility for his own subpar performance, saying, “I’ve got to be better than that.”
In addition to being the Warriors’ lowest point of the season, this loss was among their worst regular-season losses ever. The Warriors’ inability to play consistently and defend has been highlighted by the fact that they have already lost three regular-season games by more than 50 points in the previous five years.

It was just a humbling night all around. They took it to us. They were great. We just couldn’t get anything going in the first quarter. They took us out of their stuff. They did a great job defensively. And everything just went south from there. Give them credit, but we got a lot of work to do.

All of the Warriors’ players struggled to contribute to the team’s lackluster performance. Dennis Schroder, a recent addition, did not do well either, scoring only five points on 2-12 shooting, while Stephen Curry had an especially poor night, scoring just two points on 0-7 shooting. Only 26 points were scored by the Warriors’ starters combined, while Andrew Wiggins and Brandin Podziemski, two bench players, led the club in scoring.
