Khabib Nurmagomedov will be a busy coach as two of his biggest fighters, Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov, will fight at UFC 311. Ahead of the fight, the ‘Eagle’ invited MMA icon Demetrious Johnson to his camp to train. The two legends sharing the same space led to some memorable moments that have become a highlight of the camp.
In the video, Khabib Nurmagomedov asked Johnson about his gaming habit. Interestingly, DJ previously used to play the PUBG video game along with Khabib’s cousin, Abubakar Nurmagomedov. During the conversation, Nurmagomedov revealed how he stopped his cousin from gaming addiction.
Previously having fought in PFL, Abubakar made his UFC debut back in 2019 but lost his debut fight. The fighter bounced back and racked up two victories but ultimately lost another fight last year. Since then, Nurmagomedov has not fought, and there is no update about his future.
Khabib blames DJ for making his cousin Abubakr lose a fight 😭
Khabib: “Because of you, you take him all the time to game, he lose one fight.”
DJ: “I haven’t seen him play in a long time.”
Khabib: “Because we break his computer.” 😭😭

His career trajectory is quite different from other fighters from the Nurmagomedov family. Other fighters, such as Umar and Usman Nurmagomedov, are undefeated and have dominated their respective divisions. However, with his latest upset, it’s safe to say that playing PUBG with Johnson wasn’t the only reason for his loss.
Why Demetrious Johnson trained with Khabib Nurmagomedov
Demetrious Johnson is undoubtedly one of the best MMA fighters of all time and has the resume to prove his credentials. With a record 11 consecutive UFC title defenses, DJ dominated the MMA scene in his prime. After he left the UFC, he joined One Championship and confirmed his dominance, winning the ultimate prize.
However, Johnson’s fighting days are gone, as the fighter recently announced his retirement from MMA. The fighter got quite emotional while giving his retirement speech, which went viral. In an interview, the fighter talked about his intentions to train with MMA legends like Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Johnson and Khabib are extremely respectful toward each other, which was visible in the video. Other than DJ, former UFC champion Henry Cejudo was also invited by Nurmagomedov to the camp. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see if the ‘Eagle’ manages to maintain his reputation as a top coach at UFC 311.
