Bronny James was drafted as the 55th overall pick during the 2024 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. Since the draft, Bronny has not performed admirably for the Lakers. His father and Lakers superstar LeBron James stated that Bronny ‘will get better’ over time. However, NBA analyst Stephen A Smith has a different take regarding this matter.
Smith claimed on the recent segment of his self-proclaimed show that it is LeBron James’ fault for his son’s failures with the Lakers. He stated James Sr. was responsible for getting Bronny drafted in the NBA before he was fully developed. Smith further claimed that James Sr quit social media to shield Bronny from criticism.
Not to be redundant, but I think it’s necessary to be that way, Bronny James doesn’t belong in the NBA. Not yet. Some people say never. I don’t believe that. I think the kid has a chance but he’s not ready yet….respectfully this is all LeBron James’ fault!

Bronny’s development is depicted by the numbers. He was selected as a McDonald’s All-American and placed 19th in the 2023 recruiting class. However, his numbers have been low on all fronts. He averaged 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in his final season at Sierra Canyon High School, where his squad won three Mission League titles in four years.
Similar limitations were evident when he joined the USC. He averaged just 4.8 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game. Bronny is currently a professional who splits his time between the NBA and the G-League. He is shooting 16.7% and averaging just 0.7 points per game. The Lakers rookie will need to put in a lot of work if he is to be a success in the NBA.

Stephen A. Smith appeared on the Full Send Podcast a few days ago. He discussed several subjects with the NELK Boys. The hosts did ask the analyst a crucial question regarding LeBron James. It was specifically about how long he believes the Los Angeles Lakers player will play. Smith responded as follows:
I think LeBron will retire next year. This season and then next season and then I think he will call it a career. I’m guessing. LeBron’s a top 5 top 6 player in the league right now. I think it’s a lot to ask, to expect him to wanna play after next season, which will be year 23. I think that will be it.
