Qualifying for the Canadian GP was an action-packed session for fans. Drivers went head-to-head in the changeable conditions as they looked to set the fastest time on a drenched circuit. Nico Hulkenberg shocked the entire paddock after pacing second quickest in Q3 with the German driver set to start on the front row on Sunday in Montreal.

The 35-year-old shed light on his drive after the session when he was interviewed by Danica Patrick. The German driver was glad to have put in a decent time in a chaotic Qualifying session. Hulkenberg said, “It was a wild quali. It was crazy!” The Haas driver managed to keep it clean and away from the barriers in the challenging Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Nico thanked his team for the amazing work that enabled him to capitalize on the weather on his way to the front row. Haas made the right call to get the 35-year-old onto slick tires when the situation arose. Subsequently, Hulkenberg managed to put a time that was the best of the rest in the Top 10 after Max Verstappen‘s outstanding performance.

The German driver holds the record for the most races in F1 without a single podium finish. Nico would love to finally put an end to this record and bag a podium on Sunday. However, the 35-year-old is aware that such a result would be extremely difficult. Fernando Alonso will start right behind Hulkenberg in a much faster Aston Martin.

Hulkenberg has made his target clear for the Canadian GP. The Haas driver will be looking to enjoy the race as much as possible after giving his team the best GP starting position in its history. Kevin Magnussen had secured Pole position at the 2022 Brazilian GP Sprint but fell in the pecking order before the main race. As such expectations will be high for the sport’s only American team.

Thus, Nico Hulkenberg is thrilled to be starting the 2023 Canadian GP from the front row right beside Max Verstappen. It is the German’s first front-row start since the 2016 Austrian GP with Force India. As such, the 35-year-old will be looking to make a mark and secure the best result possible for his team despite having a midfield car.
