Sharaputdin Magomedov, also known as the ‘One-Eyed Pirate,‘ is currently one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC. As his reputation in the promotion grows, so does his confidence. Recently, he even named a few UFC fighters he can easily defeat in a fight. Surprisingly, this includes the reigning light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
The undefeated Russian is set to face 33-year-old Armen Patrosyan on another UFC Abu Dhabi fight card. Before his fight, RMC Sport Combat interviewed the one-eyed Russian about potential matchups against formidable middleweight fighters and champions. They asked ‘Shara Bullet‘ how a potential fight with these opponents would unfold.
Aside from Alex Pereira and Jon Jones, Magomedov quickly responded. Shara Bullet believed he would emerge victorious by decision against top middleweight fighters like Khamzat Chimaev, Israel Adesanya, and Nassourdine Imavov.
Additionally, he expressed confidence in securing a knockout win against Sean Strickland, Dricus Du Plessis, and eventually even ‘Poatan’ after careful consideration. However, when it came to Jon Jones, he simply stated, “No contest!”

Jon Jones and Alex Pereira are two of the most formidable fighters on the UFC roster. Over their illustrious UFC careers, they have easily defeated some top fighters in their respective divisions. Due to this, Magomedov carefully considered his response before answering the questions. However, the Russian fighter’s coach thinks otherwise, claiming that Magomedov is a better fighter than Pereira.

Sharaputdin Magomedov has caught everyone’s attention since his debut a year ago. Since then, he has fought and won twice, defeating Antonio Trocoli and Michal Oleksiejczuk. His outstanding performances since his debut have given the undefeated star and his team a big confidence boost. Coach Gor Azizyan, the mastermind behind Shara Bullet, has even compared his fighter to Alex Pereira.
Bullet’s coach dived deeper into his thoughts in a recent interview with Red Corner MMA. Despite Poatan’s reputation as one of the most dangerous strikers in the UFC, Azizyan believes the Brazilian lacks real technique and hasn’t been tested by true competition. Moreover, he claims that Magomedov is a more complete fighter than the champion.
If I am being fair, Shara is more exciting than Alex Pereira. Shara’s striking is more dynamic. Alex Pereira does not have that technique. Shara can land 60 low kicks, 30 middle and 10 high in one fight. We have not seen that from Alex Pereira.

Azizyan suggests that Pereira’s success has been primarily due to UFC’s marketing efforts rather than facing high-level opponents.
