The former days of TNA saw them as tough competition for WWE. Starting with several stars in hand, the Nashville-based company started gaining wrestlers even from WWE. Stars like Kurt Angle, Christian, and Booker T went there after leaving WWE. But the scenario changed in 2010 when the management changed and Dixie Carter became president. Angelina Love, one of the biggest names in the promotion, reflected on the changes she brought.
TNA President Dixie Carter started appearing on the shows frequently, making it a copycat version of WWE. Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff took over the reins of TNA and made the situation worse. The backstage vibe began falling as Carter was seemingly behaving like Stephanie McMahon but in an unnecessary manner.
In an interview with WrestlingNews. Co, Angelina Love spoke of the times when Carter took over TNA. She stated that everyone disliked the environment at that time. The show became heartless and gave off cold vibes that disengaged everyone. Love added that Dixie went off into her world, assuming herself to be Stephanie. She forgot that the essence of the show was wrestling and not her talk segments.
Angelina Love said, โShe went off in her own world. She wanted to beย Stephanie McMahonย so bad. 80% of the Knockouts ended up getting pushed off the show because Dixie had to have 11 segments every show.โ
Carter hoped to be as good as McMahon but instead did it the wrong way and ended up being a failure. Angelina states that Dixie Carter was being advised by the wrong people, and that resulted in her downfall. The TNA President pushed off the wrestlersโ appearances on television to get herself a segment. She had little to no understanding of what the audience required or what the show was delivering.
The time when Stephanie McMahon fired the RAW General Manager
Stephanie McMahon, being the authority figure in WWE, had the right to fire stars from WWE. Although back in 2014, she made a bold move and fired the then-RAW General Manager Brad Maddox alongside her husband, Triple H. The act was considered a punishment for what Maddox had done the previous week.ย
The May 19, 2014, episode of RAW saw the match between Seth Rollins and Batista. With Batistaโs stablemates Triple H and Randy Orton alongside him serving as ring announcers and timekeepers, respectively. The match was eventually won by Rollins via disqualification, as he was even backed by his stablemates of The Shield.
It was found out that Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose were allowed to join the commentary table on the orders of Brad. HHH also being an Authority figure found it intended as a slur towards the ultimate Authority. Hence, he highly criticized Brad for his act and called upon Kane to smash him and eventually fire him from the job.
