In every sportsman’s life comes the point when they have to make the toughest decision of their career- the one where they need to hang up their boots. Historically, it has been one question that has plagued many players from every sport in the past, especially in the NFL, where players(most recently Tom Brady) have also shown a tendency to backtrack on their retirement plans.

Travis Kelce is arguably one of the best tight ends to have played in the National Football League, and the 33-year-old seems to have an idea of when to hang up his boots. Kansas City Chiefs fans, however, need not fret about it anytime soon, as Kelce wants to play “until the wheels fall off.”

“Until the wheels fall off, baby,” Kelce said when asked how long he wants to keep playing in his Tuesday press conference. “I love this game and I know I’m going to miss it when I’m done playing. I hear you on that and that’s a business decision I’m sure I’ll have to make at some point in my life. But right now, I’m in this building wanting to win football games, man.”

Travis Kelce had one of the best seasons of his career in 2022/23, leading the Chiefs to their third Super Bowl title. He registered an impressive 110 passes for 1,338 yards with 12 touchdowns in the regular season while scoring four touchdowns in the postseason, alongside having 27 receptions for 257 yards.

Kelce felt that he still has the same enthusiasm for the game as he did when he started playing in the NFL, and that makes it a lot easier for him to keep on playing. Kelce won his second Super Bowl title last year and has become an integral part of the Chiefs’ offense proving to be an exceptional receiving option for quarterback Patrick Mahomes with whom he shares a brilliant relationship.

“I get to play a game for a living at the age of 33, 34, and I don’t want to lose that. I don’t want to lose that excitement that I had for the game when I was a kid, and every single day I get to come in with the best team, the best players, the best coaches in the world. So, it makes it easier if you just come in here and enjoy it.”

Kelce is all set to enter his 11th season in the NFL and will look to emulate the success from the previous season.
