Dana White has a history of clashing with his champions. White has a history of putting a few champions in unfavorable positions, resulting in a feud. Stipe Miocic in 2018 and Demetrius Johnson for his championship reign remain the best examples. The bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling faced the same issue and had an ongoing feud with the UFC President. However, all that seemed to disappear according to the latest news.

Aljamain Sterling defended his title for the third time against former double-champion Henry Cejudo. Sterling clinched a close win and broke the record for most bantamweight title defenses. After his win, Sterling and Sean O’Malley faced off, almost leading to an altercation due to Merab Dvalishvili’s jacket incident. During the post-fight interview, Dana White announced that Sean O’Malley would compete for the title next at UFC 292 in Boston. Yet, Sterling came forward and suggested the fight was not yet confirmed as he’ll need more time for recovery.

This did not sit right with Dana White, leading to a feud between the two. In the end, Sterling confirmed that he would fight O’Malley, but not without taking a few digs at Dana. However, Dana White seems to have ended the feud instead of responding. White gifted the Funkmaster a green Lamborghini Huracan, which cost around $250,000. Sterling seems to have acknowledged the gift and talked about it in his recent interview with The Schmo.

“Dana finally got me that Lambo I’ve been asking for. He’s a man of his word. I mean it’s a pretty damn nice car, I’ll tell you that. It’s a very nice car,” said Sterling. While the whole backstory of the gift is unknown, Dana White and Aljamain Sterling are back on good terms.

Aljamain Sterling is thinking of taking a long break after his next fight. Sterling recently defeated former double-division champ Henry Cejudo at UFC 288. Although the fight was close, Sterling managed to do enough to get the nod. He will face O’Malley in Boston for his next title defense.

Right after the fight, Dana White announced that a fight between Sterling and O’Malley would happen at UFC 292. Since then, both fighters have been calling out each other and getting ready for their bout in August. However, during his interview, with The Schmo, Sterling revealed that he would be taking an extended vacation after dealing with O’Malley. “We’ll figure out August 19th who is who, and after that don’t call my phone Dana, don’t call my phone, Hunter I’m on vacation for a very long time,” said Sterling.

Given that Sterling wins his bout against Sean O’Malley, he will relinquish his title to go up a division. Aljamain Sterling has repeatedly stated his desire to earn the featherweight title. If he wins against Suga, he will put that plan in motion. Regardless, Sterling is not looking past O’Malley and expects to defeat him in round one.
