It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of veteran Malayalam actor TP Madhavan. He peacefully left this world at a private hospital in Kollam on Wednesday, October 9, at the age of 88. As reported by Mathrubhumi, TP Madhavan was bravely fighting stomach-related ailments and was on a ventilator before his final curtain call. His funeral is scheduled to take place at Shanthi Kavadam in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, October 10.

TP Madhavan leaves behind his loving son Raja Krishna Menon and daughter Devika. In his final days, he resided at Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram. A few years back, Madhavan bid farewell to his acting career after being diagnosed with amnesia. Despite his health challenges, he continued to battle on, receiving treatment for a stroke since 2015.

Born to the esteemed professor N.P. Pillai, Madhavan held a master’s degree in sociology. Before gracing the silver screen, he ventured into the world of advertising in Kolkata and Mumbai.

Embarking on his acting journey at the age of 40, TP Madhavan made his debut in the film Raagam in 1975. Over the course of his illustrious career, he mesmerized audiences in over 600 films. Starting as a villain, he later transitioned into comedic roles, earning accolades for his exceptional performances.

In addition to his film ventures, Madhavan also dabbled in television serials before facing the challenges brought on by amnesia. His contributions to the Indian film industry were recognized with the prestigious Prem Nazir and Ramu Karyat Awards.

Despite being selected for the Indian Army, Madhavan had to forego his military dreams due to a fractured hand. Beyond his acting prowess, he played a pivotal role as the first General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).
