Controversies and Conor McGregor go hand in hand. The former UFC double champion often finds himself in the middle of legal troubles, which always makes the headlines. The Irish fighter is expected to go through a civil trial next month on November 5th in Ireland.ย

Conor McGregor faced a lawsuit in 2021 for alleged assault on a woman at a Dublin hotel in 2018. Despite a criminal inquiry, no charges were brought. The woman sought almost $1.79 million in damages from the incident. The โ€˜Notoriousโ€™ constantly denied the accusations as the case became a civil suit.ย

McGregorโ€™s trial, originally set for June or July 2024, was delayed after his team cited a UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler. The judge granted the delay for the assault trial but an injury to Conor McGregor canceled the bout. The UFC superstarโ€™s legal team asked for a second adjournment for the announced boxing bout, potentially with multidivisional champion Terence Crawford.ย

Despite McGregorโ€™s attempts to postpone the trial, the judge has denied any more postponement. The details about the trial were first reported by the Irish Mirror. This is one of two legal proceedings originating from the 2018 event, although the specifics of the accusations have been kept confidential under Irish law. It would be interesting to see if the trial would affect the fighterโ€™s future aspirations.

Despite a glorious past, Conor McGregorโ€™s current relationship with the UFC is rather confusing. McGregor is desperate to get back in the octagon but isnโ€™t happy with UFCโ€™s matchmaking process. While CEO Dana White has frequently confirmed McGregorโ€™s return in 2025, fans are unsatisfied with the promises.ย

Irrespective of the inactivity, the Irishman is quite updated with UFC fights and often shares snippets of him watching pay-per-view events. The Irish fighter recently saw UFC 307 and rooted for the main event attraction Alex Pereira. In a recent interview, McGregor doubled down on his claims and talked about the ideal path for Pereira to become a three-weight champion.ย

McGregor has also talked about potentially fighting for the three belts status along with Alex Pereira. It seems like the fighter has some unfinished business in the UFC, but the unwarranted delay is definitely affecting his return. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see what the fighter has planned for his future.
