India recently lost to Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final as well as a chance to win an ICC title. The Rohit Sharma-led team faced a lot of backlash for the defeat. Nevertheless, as with things in life, cricket will also go on. While the World Cup is still a few months away, Team India is all set to tour the West Indies for a full-fledged series. Meanwhile, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to reward Rinku Singh for his IPL 2023 performance.

The Men in Blue will play two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is during this one-month-long tour. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the itinerary on Monday. The tour will kick off with two Tests, followed by the three ODIs and five T20Is. While the itinerary is confirmed, the BCCI has not yet announced squads.

However, as per reports, there will be some major changes to the Test squad as well as the T20I squad. With these two Tests as part of the new WTC cycle (2023-25), BCCI will look to send its best team. Meanwhile, the T20I squad will also see a few new faces. As per reports, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh, and Jitesh Sharma are all set to get a place in the T20I squad.

While Yashaswi Jaiswal’s name is doing the rounds for both Tests and T20Is, Rinku Singh is set to be rewarded for his IPL 2023 performance. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter who scored 474 runs at a strike rate of 149.53, is in BCCI’s scheme of things. Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper batter, Jitesh Sharma who showed promising signs as a finisher is also in line.

“The T20I team would be purely based on IPL performers and one can expect the likes of Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma to make the cut in the final squad, as teams in the past lacked finishers,” claimed a PTI report.
