The Iron Sheik passed away on June 7, 2023. The wrestling world is coming together to pay tribute to the legend and share stories. Superstars like The Rock, Triple H, Matt Hardy, John Cena, and others paid their dues to the Hall of Famer. In the latest interview, the former US Champion MVP shared his experience with the WWE legend.

The Iron Sheik was always known to be a larger-than-life person, both as a wrestler and in real life. His stories continue to amaze fans everywhere, even after his passing. The Hall of Famer was also active on Twitter and was known for posting ridiculous tweets showing his hatred for his on-screen rival, Hulk Hogan. Many legends remembered Sheik as one of the greats in the industry due to his character work and getting heel heat.

While talking on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, MVP recalled his first meeting with the Hall of Famer. Before meeting Sheik, the former Hurt Business manager approached Teddy Long and talked to him about meeting Sheik. He wanted to give the WWE legend some medicine as a gift. When MVP met the 81-year-old, he greeted him with a warm welcome.

MVP then gave the gift that he had brought for The Iron Sheik. The 49-year-old wanted to get high with the legend, as he was known to have fun with medicines and other drugs. He did not get the chance the first time, but the duo formed a great bond eventually because of the interaction.

The former WWE United States Champion also recalled having memorable moments with The Iron Sheik over the years. The most memorable moment was when MVP made Sheik record a voice message on his phone. They thought this would make a great joke. However, The Hall of Famer had a lot of trouble trying to take the former US Champion’s name.

Montel Vontavious Porter returned to WWE after eight years at the 2020 Royal Rumble. The veteran could not last long in the match, as Brock Lesnar eliminated him very soon. Following his return, he became a regular on WWE programming as a wrestler, manager, and producer.

The highlight of MVP’s run in 2020 was the formation of The Hurt Business. The group dominated Monday Night Raw for a year before breaking up. It consisted of Bobby Lashley, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin. The faction received much success under MVP. The WWE veteran continued to manage Lashley until 2022.

In 2022, MVP turned on Bobby Lashley, aligning himself with Omos. The All Mighty defeated the team of Omos and MVP in a 2-on-1 match at Hell in a Cell later that year. The 49-year-old continues to manage the Nigerian Giant to this day. Other than making sporadic wrestling cameos, MVP does not wrestle frequently.
